I am a Wildlife Artist and lived in the southern African countries of Botswana and Zimbabwe for nearly 9 years. I paint in watercolor and each of my paintings is based on my experience living in Africa and the countless hours I spent camping in the bush. I return on a regular basis, give talks about living and painting in Africa and regularly donate a percentage of my sales to conservation groups working in the region.
In 2007 I spent 6 weeks at the Painted Dog Conservation project in Zimbabwe searching for and sketching highly endangered African Wild Dogs. My trip was a Flag Expedition funded by Artists For Conservation and was titled 'Painting the Painted Dogs'. As a result of the trip I created a traveling exhibition & talk series to raise awareness of the dogs and funds for their conservation. My watercolors were featured in the March/April 2007 issue of Wildlife Art magazine and in 2009 I will be exhibiting at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, the largest wildlife art & nature show in the US. My paintings have been exhibited at the Botswana Mission to the United Nations in Manhattan and the US Department of State used one of my paintings as the backdrop for material promoting their “Coalition Against Wildlife Trafficking” initiative.
